Carnival is thrilled to announce that Downton Abbey has received ten nominations for the 2016 Primetime Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. Downton Abbey has won a total of 12 Emmys® for previous series. With a total of 69 nominations Downton Abbey remains the most nominated non-US television series in Emmy® history.
Maggie Smith is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Julian Fellowes for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Michael Engler for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
In addition, Downton Abbey has also received Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards nominations for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period Program, Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Costumes for a Period/Fantasy Series, Limited Series or Move, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series.
The 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 18th, with the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards a week earlier on the 10th and 11th September.
